serninit's one of those things that puddle jumps through my mind some days
some things are empathetic moments, like the gurgling purring that kaye does when she snuggles in for belly rubs in the bed at night, or the look on indy's face when he's fetching the hot pink rattle mousie without threat from a bossy paw - the happiness comes from an extension of the happiness of the critters
some things are simple moments of experience, like sitting in a frequented restaurant with a fabulous song coming through the sound system and the diet coke with a great balance of flavor and bubbles and ice or watching my favorite teevee shows while sitting on the couch with my laptop (and 10 open tabs on the browser)
some things are complex moments of experience, most likely from a concert or group performance (and to this, there is an entirely separate post scattered across my thoughts) - but easy mental post-its tie this to Indigo Girls concerts and bluegrass performances
some things are sensory moments, like when the fall air stirs a quick gust that smells of football and the light blue sky with wispy white streaks of cloud feel like a reflection of all the universe
some things are relational moments, when the closeness and chemistry of the friends is perfect - and the laughter is easy and infectious, and and when waves of goodness crash over any distractions or detractions from the rest of the world
then there is a whole category of things that are food-related: sweet (buttermilk pie still warm from the oven, hot blackberry cobbler with melting vanilla ice cream, oatmeal cookie dough caramel concretes from the local ice cream store); savory (slow roasted pulled pork, grilled garlic-butter shrimp, grilled pineapple, country ham); cheese and cheese product
In this exercise, I note that all the things that create happiness, are external
And the next line of thought... what brings you joy?
