election night - the test drive (1)

While working on lecture notes, grading quizzes, and avoiding tornadoes, I'm watching election results come in across the country. One of the things that I just Don't Get is how 1,000 people (so far) in Connecticut and 10,000 (so far) in Oklahoma have voted for candidates who have left the race. Sure, Edwards just dropped out a week ago, and the ballots were printed long ago so of course he's still on the ballot. But that just seems like such a Waste. Granted, I voted for someone who has No Chance in this state, but at least I voted for someone still in the race.

No, I was being honest. I really thought that the candidate for whom I voted had a shot at winning. CNN promptly shot me down within minutes of the polls closing here.

I feel very deflated and like I'm back in Ohio.

My only hope is that November brings better news.

I saw a documentary about Ohio in the 2004 election. Twas sad to see people so excited then confused then sad. (So Goes the Nation, maybe?)

I knew my choice had no chance. It was a conscience vote.

I was surprised by all the other names on the list, of people i'd never even heard of that were running. shows how much i pay attention...i guess i really only thought 6 or so people were still running, on both sides.

I voted in the morning because I had an evening meeting. Then went to Best Buy to use my $5.00 off coupon to get the new Sheryl Crow CD (Thanks for sending me the link M., I knew it was due out this month just unsure which Tuesday). On the way home I heard about the tornadoes up in Atkins and called S to have him call and check on his dad. Still haven't heard anything.
