noticed that my flickr page was hit 68 times yesterday - who discovered my flickr photos, and looked at all of the pictures? leave a comment if you're reading this too

bought a new car, Mazda3, graphite

bought rose-gold swirly earrings - according to the post office they were processed in Las Vegas post office on Thursday

got a massage - made some phone calls and found my favorite massage person at a little shop in West Little Rock - 1 hour of glorious relaxation followed by a quiet evening on the couch with kitties

saw a really excellent documentary (Warrior Champions) with [livejournal.com profile] pearlbeachlady as part of a fundraiser for the Clinton School of Public Service - won two tickets from the Little Rock Film Festival

finished a major goal of my current workload (chapter 3 is out for agency technical review), and have a half-strategy for the seemingly insurmountable pile of work still on the desk

at the point in the semester when I am tired of going to class, even though the subject matter is my favorite (macro!)

filling my new U-Verse dvr with movies on the Sundance channel

reading Stroke of Insight and (pardon the pun) gaining some amazing insight into the way the left and right brains work

emailed two people, regarding becoming a volunteer for the screening committee for the documentary film festival - something I've wanted to do for years - got a response from one of the two, saying my message would be forwarded to the festival and film programming director

starting to think about making a trip to DC next year to visit MOLLY!!! - and will be timing it to match the Lilith Fair concert date, yet to be announced

looking forward to knit nite - even if I'll be grading quizzes

I'm tired of it.
I'm over the hype.

I've also dropped Psych, which doesn't matter now since new episodes aren't airing.
I think I'm also ready to delete all the unwatched episodes of Chuck from my dvr.

yay fall!

I'm finally very happy with the writer's strike.

So far, I'm adding:
The Forgotten
The Good Wife
Glee
Three Rivers

I've yet to watch:
Mercy
Flash Forward

I haven't decided:
Eastwick (seriously? dark mysterious man with a "D" wax seal ring who is probably the devil and three women with mysterious new powers?)

I LOVE Project Runway.

Last night was wonderful: a two-hour All Star challenge episode followed by episode 1 of Season 6.
Foo that it isn't in Bravo now, but as long as I have Heidi and Tim, I will watch.

got home from mini-vacation yesterday afternoon

the days after my last post weren't as wonderful as the first day
part of me wonders if it was like diminishing marginal utility, that each additional unit of vacation brings less additional happiness and relaxation than the last unit
but part of me knows that it was just 10+ kids at the pool, heat index of 103, back pain, and very little sound-proofing insulation between rooms that made the remaining time just less enjoyable

what I did enjoy in the last day and a half of my vacation:
shopping for luxury bedding on SALE at macy's (down comforter, three down pillows, bath sheets and hand towels)
shopping for fundamentals at the one store that carries my size and fabric preference, also on SALE and remembered to use the coupon my momma had in her purse
eating at a truly local texas dive, really enjoying the ribeye, grilled garlic butter shrimp, and blackberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream

after driving home, I took a nap on the couch with my kitties, and then went to a local japanese steakhouse for a double family birthday celebration

went to [livejournal.com profile] pearlbeachlady 's house for some kitty loving

read twilight book #3 until I fell asleep

so today (I think) is Saturday, and I'm already dreading going back to the office
there's a long list of things that I _should_ be doing - if I want to be a responsible adult
washing the bed linens, washing the new towels, washing the vacation clothes, empty and put away suitcase (for the first time in 8 weeks), sorting through the bills and paying what has stacked up on the credit card, going through the pantry and sorting out all the crap that I will never eat, going to the grocery store to buy food that I will eat, getting out the textbook for the fall class (10 days away?) and starting to formulate the syllabus and general homework/quiz/online assignments strategy

what I am doing so far?
laying on the couch with a striped kitty between my legs
watching shows on the dvr (Mental, Warehouse 13, In Plain Sight, Saving Grace, L&O:CI, L&O:SVU)
playing mad scientist on facebook
wishing I had something to eat (and crappy mexican restaurant provided)

A broad smattering of ideas.

I'm a month late to the party, but I enjoyed the first two installments of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog last night via Hulu.

I've just finished watching season 1 of Mad Men, just in time for tonight's debut of season 2.

Good stuff.

Bob McGrath (best known to us as Bob Johnson from Sesame Street) has appeared this week on I've Got a Secret reruns on Game Show Network. Bob's secret involves his singing Irish folk songs in Japanese.
IMDB says the episode is from February 1967, two years before his appearance in the pilot episode of Sesame Street.  It's odd that before doing any web searching to investigate Mr. McGrath, I felt the need to give him a hug.

Colonel Harlan Sanders from Kentucky has a secret about a business he just sold for $2 million (in 1964 dollars).

The panel doesn't know who he is.

First guest powers the Halloween pumpkin with ATOMIC ENERGY (ZOMGWTF)

Second guest is GROUCHO MARX

This show is just fabulous.  Hello October 1963!
sernin: (teevee)
It may be my all-time favorite game show, and I've found it airing at 2 am on Game Show Network. It's a little bit of happy for me to watch while I wake up in the morning. Yesterday's episode had Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong with their secret: their son was just named as NASA's newest astronaut. This morning's episode has a man who was the only boxer to beat Sonny Liston. I like that the show is full of specific 1962 culture and knowledge. like the two female panelists in their pearls and all the women guests are referred to as Mrs. Husband's Name. As I hear cultural references that I don't know, I go search the net. I just love it.

house is CLEAN (this almost never happens) - floors washed, laundry folded and put away, dishes put away, ironing finished, furniture vacuumed, and piles reduced

saw Charlie Wilson's War and liked it - Philip Seymour Hoffman is genius with Aaron Sorkin's writing

watching American Gladiators with delight and horror

enrollment in PT class has gone from 2 to 8 to 4

university called and I'll go do paperwork on Friday, get keys to room and workroom, get computer access and textbook

someone gave me smoked salmon and japanese treats from a trip to Washington state

trip to Orlando next week for work

critters are adorable

One day I will learn that a dvr that has crashed three times and has lost all the shows on its hard drive three times will eventually crash again, causing all of the beloved recorded programs to go away.  Dumb girl.

The other half of the Reilly-Somers Match Game Duo of Excellency dies.

I like this quote from the news article:  "She maintained her independence till the end, and her irreverence," Adam Klugman said.
